The Value of a pleasure present, or otherwise of which the
proximity and certainty are otherwise given , the intensity
being also given, is as it's duration.

The value of a pleasure present , or of which the proximity
and certainty are otherwise given , is as it's the duration being
also a given , is as it's intensity.

Reasons might possibly be given, why pro Certainty or
Proximity should not be number'd among the dimensions
of a Pain or Pleasure , but they would lead us into many
subtleties, and nor would the distinction be of any use in practise
These two are indisputably ingredients in the value of a
Pain or Pleasure . Let us include them also among in the
number of Dimensions.
4 26* Clear Value of a Pain or Pleasure
By The clear value of a Pleasure may be meant that which
remains to it after the value of the Pain that makes
the alloy to it is deducted. And in like manner
Of a Pain.
Ex parte Value of a Pain or Pleasure . By the ex parte value of a Pleasure may be meant
that which belongs to it consider'd in itself without
regard to its consequences of either kind .
