Limit

in language that some authors have been led to
define a law a rule of action. The word rule is
a vague metaphysical kind appellative of a term so constructed
as to equally applicable as well to
the real entity as to the ficticious entity feigned
in imitation of it. It was therefore well calculated
to throw a veil over the ineptitude of
those discourses in which the real entity and the
fictitious non-entity are in point of reality just upon
the same level. But what light is there to be obtained
from such a definition if a thing the object an object really existing as which confounds will not
so really object with a so much as serve to distinguish it from a non-entity?
a thing which does exist with one which does
not exist?
