Instructional. Exemplificational

Of the uninterruptedness here required, English
petitions
examples are not altogether wanting in English
practice. but this is only of Examples, yes: but to a narrow extent, [?] comparatively recent states
and is
suits, none but of a class regarded as being of comparatively
small importance. The examples are confined to that part of the
Portion in the field of law, that which, in other countries would be placed
under the head of police. Sole judicatory that in which
the official denomination of the Judge is Justice of the
Peace
.

In this Judicatory, the cases may be distinguished Distinguishable sorts of cases, two:
into 1. those in which it is in this same judicatory
that the suit is commenced and terminated: carried on from beginning to
end: 2. those in which the course taken by the business taking in that its commencement, of the suit is divided into two parts: the first, or say it is consigned to another for its continuance, and to
a third for its termination
the initiatory part, the business being carried on by a
Justice of the peace, in the next succeeding part by
another Judicatory, called the Grand Jury, the concluding
part by a Judicatory called Court of Oyer and Terminer
in which a Jury acts under the direction elsewhere
of a single Judge, everywhere but in the metropolis:
in the metropolis by a company composed of an intermixture
of characters, some of them purely Judges,
others a species of magisterial functionaries, in
whose situation a multitude of heterogeneous functionaries
are jumbled together, the judicial exercised
sometimes in this judicatory, sometimes in that
of a Justice of the peace, is of the number. On this
occasion it has not been possible to avoid touching
on a case which belongs to another head:
to wit, that in which the thread of the suit is cut
or rather torn into a multitude of pieces – the pieces
allotted
