Law Amendmt Constitutional Code Propositions
Ch. XII Judiciary collectively
§. Number of Immediate Judicatories Anglicé
In this way excluding fractions of less than 20 miles by 20
miles the number of entire squares of 20 miles aside was found
to be 125. Allowing 19 additional subdistricts as the number
to be established in consideration of these same fractions, this
would give for the total number of districts Sub Immediate
judicatories for England Wales included 144. Exactness
being alike unattainable and needless this number is assumed
as being more easily divisible than any other not widely
differing from it.
To ascertain what, after the allowance thus made for
the largest fractions would be the extent that which would be to be
added to th one or more of the contiguous entire squares, on
the supposition of the addition of the fragment of territory a Subdistrict to the
nearest Subdistrict of full size, and thence what would be the
quantity to be added to the day's journey in addition to the above
mentioned average of 20 miles would require a map
a purpose with a correspondent multitude of references to it.
In the annext map England is divided in this manner
and in each square in inserted the name of the town which presents
itself as most central together with the number expressed of its
population as exhibited in the Census of 18..
