Even under this wretched state of things, the trial
by Jury win against a mischief thus seemingly
irremediable trial by Jury is not altogether without
its peculiar use: though it require a microscope
to discover it, it shall not pass unseen. A
resolution consent thus general universal among Juries could not
be produced without producing a ferment equally
universal in the whole body of the people: the result
would be a resolution almost equally general not to co
submitt any longer to the yoke: but before things
and long before things, came to that pickle the
ruling powers could see enough of the gathering
clouds to prognosticate a storm, thus would slacken
their pursuit, and prove diligent and consistent tyranny
would relapse into the present ordinary and present inconsistent medley
of tyranny and negligence.

But is this late and con dear-bought remedy
in any degree the peculiar production of the Jury-system?
I said so, but on a nearer view I hesitate. Twelve
men in every cause would thus be brought to
take a nearer view of the danger to liberty a
more necessat necessary interest
