Juries
Such then is the true and only use of a
Jury Juries : to destroy quash the effect of the certain laws
or pretended laws which have been made by lawyers Judges
under the pretence of judicature : to save the liberty
of the press from destruction , and with it every
thing else that was ever called by the name of
liberty : to save what little there is good in the
constitution patched up , undigested unsettled , unplanned
inconsistent imperfect constitution system of liberty government under which
we live which the people have as yet found wisdom
or spirit to procure themselves , from the destruction
to which it has been doomed by its pretended
guardians.
But will this put themselves to this use ?
Is there any and what chance of their rendering
upon occasion this important service to the community in compensation
for al the constant abundant mischief of which
their ignorances thus prejudices and their caprices
are so continually doing productive to it. I answer , there
is some chance [of their it being of this use] however
distant and precarious uncertain and remote : and it is to the contemplation of
