Ch. 5 Features inessential to the institution and separate
from it.

We come now to a cluster of features which inseparable accident
or superstition first attached to the institution, and
which bigotry hatred and and habit represent concurr in representing as as effectual parts
of it routing confounding as destructive between these and those others
which we have seen to be really so.

If they cease so much the worse for the institution:
since for they are will be seen to be none of them simply indiferent: they
are productive, all of them, productive of more or
less persuasion, more or less repugnant adverse to the needs of justice
