Junctiana Plan

Plan for the Junction of the two Seas – the
Atlantic & the Pacific by means of a Joint Stock
Company styled the Junctiana Company

§. 1. Outline of the Plan Agreement

Art. 1. The Junction to be effected at the sole expence
& accordingly for the sole immediate pecuniary profit of the Company.

Art 2. Sources of the profit. 1. The tolls to be taken from
all vessels making use of the Junction: 2. Rent of i of the whole quantity of the lands
through which the Junction is effected, say the transit price.

Art. 3. The Company to pay a sum in the name of purchase
money to the State or States within whose dominion the
land is situated.

Art. 4. The quantity of land purchased for this purchase purpose
such as shall be completely sufficient, for the formation & maintenance
of the communication in question: including necessary
fortifications as well as necessary receptacles for navigable
vessels of all sorts: for ex. Docks, Piers, Jetties, Locks Canals,
&c. Locks, Tunnels, Bridges, &c.

Art. 5. The Compy to pay the expence of the indemnification,
due, to all such individuals, original inhabitatns stiled Indians; included,
as possess any interest, in the land so purchased: the
value so paid for, being the present value only, & not any such
additional value, as may be expected to accrue be derived from the accomplishment
of this plan.

Art. 6. In case of disagreement, the price to be referred to
arbitration, as per Art. –

Art. 7. In respect of payment of tolls for transit, & all
charges under whatsoever denomination for the same, all
Nations, Governments as well as subjects, to be for ever exactly
on the same footing: & this for ever.

United States, to admit, the Junctiana Territory into their confederacy
upon the terms similar to those on which they have been in
