The present is the first work in which the subject
has been treated in the a methodical mode. In an antecedent
one has it been treated in any other than a desultory
mode: John Adam's and even the Federalist not excepted.

Of the Federalist the principal object was to cause the
Federation Constitution to have be adopted in place of the Confederate.
In this he has succeeded, as well in respect of result, in argument.
