So at the same time fr and by the same means for the
quantity of correctness. In some of the ways that the import might
perhaps have been conveyed might perhaps be the import by which
a state of things proportion conception conformable to the bulk of it would
have been and to the intention of the draughtsman would have been
conveyed: but in others a conception differing also from the bulk
of his case or from that meant to be conveyed by the draughtsman
or both.

One and the same pair of words by this to that
infinite words of phrases by which the same import or imports
more or less approaches to identity would in the other case have been one conveyed
the consequence is that any time this pair of words is
presented to the reader the impression made on the occasion when
it was first employed is renewed and strengthened: the quantity
of the expression is , its vagueness fixed by the
any obscurity it might have had illustrated by the reputed
use thus made of it on so many different occasions.
Every time it occurs the import of it is more deeply engrained
and more firmly fixt in the mind.
