Constitutional CodeCh. XIX. Govt. Adv. General

Instructional

Under the matchless Constitution object of admiration and
envy of the world such is the condition of the people,
of the 17 Million in Europe not to speak of the
from 60 of 100 million elsewhere: their lives and
thence their everything, lying constantly at the mercy
not only of a Monarch above, but of the aristocracy
under him, and at his comma for this and all other
evil purposes at his command.

Rebellion have been suffered to be
idle, let Manchester, let Hyde Park, let Dublin
declare. As yet it is only in the lump that
have fallen: and so long as no selection is
known to have place, men look upon themselves as safe.
Selection is not yet known to have had place and
why? because hitherto indiscriminate slaughter has
been looked upon as adequate to the purpose. But
with what ideas of reason can any man take it
upon him to say that in any such selection there
is at any moment of time any thing in any degree
improbable? Has not the nay been expressly and openly
paid for it? Either the had this design or it had what
others design had it?
none. To what other purpose could it serve?
For apprehension of the worst designs reason in abundance
may have place, when wih the most anxious emotion anxiety the existence of them is concealed.
But when by the King Lords and Commons
together the a new sword is put into the hand of the King, for
no imaginable use or reason use or purpose than the enabling him
to put to death one after another men in any number and with
not so much as the trouble and moral responsibility of signature
with no other trouble than the censuring, through any number of
mediums and ears are to that one of
his dependent creatures
whose official name
is Attorney General
as intimates to
put his name to a
paper by which the all
is stopped,
can reach there a man in the country who can say with truth, that in case of a desire on the part of the King whom he is to put him to death, his life can with any
colour of rank be said to be secure?
