§. 1. Who

Art. The Law Adviser is he who on the occasion
or in contemplation of a suit gives his opinion as to what it
will most is best most beneficial to the interest should be done.

In England France the Law Practitioner when considered
in tis character is termed from the Latin Jurisconsultus,
Jurisconsulte.

In England where everything that belongs to law is
in a greater state of more accomplished confusion than anywhere
else the word Jurisconsult is unknown not in use. On the occasion
the word Counsel is employed: the person by whom
the advice – the counsel – is given is himself stiled the Counsel.
But to the same man when officiating acting in the character
of a Barrister this same appellation is also applied.

Gorgon had but three bodies: the Law Practitioner has
four. To strike this one of the four with paralysis is has
been among the objects of this Code in Ch. XII. §. 16, 17, 18.

In English procedure a suit at law or equity scarce does the Attorney
dare to take a step without repairing to a Barrister in his
character of Counsel for advice. But in In the multitude of

during the progress of the suit the Opiners are brought together to meet

Of the case multitude in this case an effect is that responsibility
is extinguished. But for every person he pays the Attorney
pays himself.
