Vain would be all surmizes surmises of advantage to justice
by this division thus made of the venomous polype professional service. In Vain
would it be said – for the purpose of justice two sorts of
talent seldom not to be expected to be found united a one person are in this case
requisite – talent of management and talent of appropriate
discourse.

In the first place the t with the talent for management
would naturally enough be found united in a corresponding degree
the talent of appropriate discourse in so far as skill in such
discourse is favourable to the interest of truth and justice conception of truth and the
of justice: the only sort of discourse to which it is not so naturally
and frequently united is that sort which is adverse to the interest
of truth and justice: the sort of discourse which operates by
delusion produced by misrepresentation accompanied with powerful
addresses made to the sinister interest the imagination and the affections and
the passions.
