Procedure Code
Art. If the loss of goods as supposed by theft be the
ground of the application, and no particular person person proved
or suspected to have been the thief concerned in the theft thief it will then be
for consideration whether for facilitating the discovery, and
pretence of the supposed criminal reward in any and
what shape and to what if to any amount, and in what condition
shall be permitted or ordered to be offered, and
in at whose expence, that of the public State, that that of the
Discreet, that of any other body of men, that of the applicant or that of any other
and what individual, and in what manner the offer
of the reward shall be made public.
Art. Before any measure of coercion or expence is
taken by the Judge, it will be his ears, by appropriate
questions and warning to make sure to satisfy himself to ascertain, that it is not
by misconception that the applicant's opinion of concerning
that the loss had an act of theft for its cause has been
produced: that it for example it had not been mislaid
by him, or dropt from about his body, or some vehicle
or taken by mistake, or borrowed by some friend from
whose appropriate information had been forgotten to be given, or having
been given endeavoured to be given through some person or
through some other medium had failed to reach him.
