The General and Extraordinary Cortes of the Portuguese
Nation having received the Kind obliging present of your
works, equally famous and interesting, which you have offered
them, directed through the hands of one, and presented
by those of another Gentleman, both citizens well
deserving of their country, who particularly co-operated distinguished
themselves in the glorious in the glorious event of the political regeneration of the
Portuguese Monarchy, they have ordered that their
thanks should be presented to you for your valuable
offer offering, and likewise, that a copy of the article in the Acts,
in which honorable mention was made of it, should be
sent to you: moreover, it was ordered that the same
works should be translated and published, in order to give
a public testimony of the great value and distinguished
estimation in which this supreme Congress holds the
very important writings of the Illustrious friend of
mankind and conspicuous advocate of the cause of Nations.
