4. It matters not whether the communication were made
spontaneously; as if Peter of his own accord were to tell the
affair to Paul; or responsively as if upon Paul's asking Peter
whether the affair were so and so, Peter were to say Yes, or
to give a Nod in token of assent.
5. It matters not whether the language employed be positive,
as by asserting that the affair is so and so; or interrogative,
as by asking whether the affair is or whether it is
not so and so.
6. It matters not whether the language be plain, as by
directly asserting that the affair is so and so; or ironical, as by
pretending to deny it in a manner that shews one's wish
that it should be believed.
7. It matters not in what manner the person who is
the object of the Defamation is marked out whether by
name or by description only. It is sufficient if by any means
whatever he be pointed out in such manner as to render
him the object of suspicion.
