Arts or 19 Suppose now the channel through
which the information is received by R. a paper contained in
a printed Newspaper, and purporting to be a letter addressed by a
person therein named to be Printer or Editor. If the letter it be in
the character of a percipient witness that the letter writer spea expresses himself writes
the information is not in respect of trustworthiness exactly
upon the same footing in the abovementioned case in which K.
the recipient were acquainted with the handwriters of the
sef-alledged percipient witness. To R it is R knows What is known to R.
is the who the declared self alledged percipient witness is: but what is not
known to him is either that the alledged letter had his a to it,
or that to the Editor of the Newspaper supposing him to have received
a letter of the to that it was known that the whether he
signature to it was the signature of the person of it purported
to be the signature.

In this case to put the Newspaper information upon a
par in respect of trustworthiness with the information conveyed in the
case in which A knowing the letter writer and his handwriting
produced and shewed it to R not only must the Editor here be
examined as to this matter by R. but the letter alledged by him
to have been received by him must have been so produced and shewed
to R and the handwriting of the writer alledged declared to be by the Editor
to be known to him the said Editor.
