Ch. Offences affecting title to property
§.
Sufficient title what

(Title) (Sufficient title). a sufficient
title to the subject matter in question is
possessed by him, in whose favour an adequate efficient
cause of title having come into existence, no
event or state of things, the legal effect of which is
to take from him such his title has since then
come into existence taken place.

Title may be good
without being sufficient

A title may be good as far as it goes
without being sufficient.

Example where of events
more than one necessary
to constitute a sufficient
title some one has
not taken place

For example, where to constitute a sufficient
or say adequate title, events in or state
of things in number more than one in conjunction
are necessary, and of these, some one
has not taken place.

Example suppose
signature of deed a
manual transfer
both necessary
the manual transfer not been
fulfilled

For example, if to in the case in question
to render the title sufficient, over and above
the signature of deeds to a certain effect by persons
of a certain description, being a condition
necessary has been accomplished, but the
ceremony of giving and taking manual symbolical
possession on the spot, if immoveable, or of a thing
if moveable, being also a condition necessary
has not been fulfilled.

Event constitutive
of title may be
simple or complex

An event constitutive of an adequate efficient
cause of title may be either simple or complex; simple,
as where it consists of no more than a single act performed
by a single person; complex as where & in
order to compose it. Divers acts exercised by so many
different persons are necessary — as for example in the
case of an election.
