Penal Code
In respect of all these means of support, the advantage
possessed by the adversaries of the alledged libeller libellers adversaries is at its maximum.
For the purchase of the most powerful support that
vocal eloquence at the hands of professed insincerity vocal eloquence
can afford they have not only the power of money
bu the power of patronage.
At the late trials at Derby out of twelve Advocates
which the spot afforded ten were engaged by the constituted
authorities: ten and of course those the ten the of whose
support was in the estimation of their employers at the highest
pitch: ten for a business for which function for the discharge of which two would have been
one more than necessary: ten among whom eight
having nothing scarce anything to do nor anything but what might as
well have been done without them were so many
upon
in the purchase of whose service so much of
the public money of the people was wasted.
Such are is the advantages which under this head are
possessed by the defamed constituted authorities, as compared with
thier defamer the alledged libeller. Such are moreover the
advantages possessed by them as compared one individual
when defamed.
