§. Reasons for insertion of acts in the list of offences.

Reasons for employing the denomination of some act in the
description given of every offence.

§. Reason for treating on the footing treating on the footing of offences the several sorts
of acts designated by the names of the several sorts several sorts of offences?

1. Why insert in the list of offences acts by which a certain
person is upon considered as being affected – person as composed of
body and mind? Why insert in the list of offences, acts productive
of vexation corporeal and or mental? Answer – the reason is presented to view by the very word vexation.

2. Why insert in the list acts by which in a certain way reputation
is affected? Answer – by reason of the vexation – the mental vexation
they produce.

3. Why the acts by which property is affected. Answer
here in before, because of the vexation which the act in question
fails not to produce. To this answer no objection seems likely to
be made. But before th some satisfaction which it is intended to afford
can be compleat regarded as compleat, some explanations
present themselves as necessary. Strong and all widely comprehensive
are the measures and arrangements everywhere taken for the avoiding of vexation
from the source. Clear and ready at hand would ought be
to the reason on which this expence so vast as that which is being
everywhere
bestowed upon this object none receives an adequate justification.
Clear and Ready at hand the principle and rules by
which this reason those reasons are brought to view and on each occasion
applied in practice to the purpose of producing the
satisfaction and of the distinctions and modificiations
which on different occasions requires to be resorted to
and employed.
