1826. Decr 29th
Logic. Penal Code
11 1
Ch. III of Offences.
1
Circumstances by which
Offences may be rendered
complex
1 Multitude of subject
matters
2 do of wrongers
3 do of codelinquents

Complex Offences. — rendered chronical by complexity. —

Circumstances by which an Offence may be rendered
complex are 1. Multitude of Subject matters of the delinquency
viz. Person Property Reputation Condition in life.
2. Multitude of the Persons wronged by the delinquency
3. Multitude of Codelinquents.

2
Subject matters may be
1 Person alone
2 Property alone
3 Person alone premeditated
Property by accident
4 Property premeditated
Person by accident

1. It may be that Person alone is the subject matter
of delinquency.
2. It may be that Property alone is the subject matter
of delinquency.
3 It may be that when Person alone is the direct and
premeditated object of delinquency, Property becomes so by
accident.
4. It may be that when Property alone is the premeditated
object of delinquency, Person becomes so by accident.

Example 1. Where the Person becomes the subject
of the wrong in consequence of his acting in defence
of his or of another Person's property.

In several of these cases the Offence by the
extent it has, whether in respect of execution or design,
assumes the character of a semi public Offence.

3
In proportion as the
Offence becomes Chronical
it may require
a suppressive remedy

In proportion as it obtains the character of a chronical
Offence it presents a demand for the application of a remedy
of the suppressive kind.

The mischievousness of a complex Offence as above
depends in a greater degree upon the nature of the design
or say the intended result than upon the actual result.

In general an Offence of which Person is the
subject matter and the wrong, the object of design, will
be more mischievous than an Offence of which Property is
the subject matter and detriment to it the object of design
but Pers inquiry to Person the actual result without
having been the Premeditated result.
