Penal Code

Where the existence of such or such an individual
at such or such an Individual point of place and
time is the subject matter of the erroneous conception
intended and endeavoured to be conveyed and produced,
the case is that of deceptious personation:
where the existence of such or such an Individual
in the character of one who at a point of time
and place determinate or indeterminate was occupied
in having certain scriptitious signs to wit
the signs in question, this case is that of forgery
in the ordinary acceptation of the word.

The case of personation, familiar as it is to experience
– frequently as it is experienced and easily
as it is understood by obsetvation is very difficult
to describe and thence to conceive from
description.

By no more than one material object of any kind,
can one and the same portions of space be occupied
at one and the same point of time. Let a
particular individual man, the individual in
question Titius by name, occupy at a certain point
of time a particular portion of space in a given
room: what is certain is that for as much as
at that time by Titius the portion of space in
question is occupied at that same time by no
other person can that same portion of space be
occupied: not therefore by Sempronius.
