and personation: perhaps in some degree
also, but not in equal degree with the word perjury.

Word Perjury involves idea
of deceptious falsehood
and of undue participation
in an oath
As to the word perjury with the idea
of false assertion, uttered for the purpose of deception,
it involves that of an undue participation
for that purpose, in the ceremony called
an oath.

But the mischief
the same with or
without that ceremony
But the mischief produced by the deception
is the same, whether that, or any
other such ceremony, has or has not been employed.

If punishment attached
the deceptious act when
oath is employed and not
where not hence licence
granted to deception
If where that ceremony has been employed,
punishment is attached to the deceptious
act, and not, in the case, where no such
ceremony has been employed. Hence, in every
