An English law such
investigation impracticable

In English law, any such all comprehensive
investigation would to a great
extent be impracticable, it being limited
to the case, where preliminary examinating
before justices of the peace have place.

evidence in
many cases by means
of the non admission
of confessorial evidence.

In many cases, it would extinguish
evidence howsoever necessary to conviction,
namely, by means of the rule, which
forbids the extraction of confessorial evidence
