§. 14. Regard due to connections

Regard Due to wrongers connections in the service of satisfaction
and punishment.

Rudiment

Where the wronger has domestic connections
then come the antagonizing claims of his domestic connections on the
one part and those of the wrongee on the other part.

In behalf of those of the wronger at the charge of
those of the wrongee, this observation requires to be made.
By the idea of the suffering to which his meditated offence
would if perpetrated upon his connections the temptee
might be induced to direct from the contemplated meditated offence.
