Ch. XIII. Means of Remedies
§. Knaves account
Whatsoever may have been the degree of any,
of criminality exhibited by the offence, the
parties wronged by the habitual conduct
of the defendant in question will, exceptions
excepted, have an equally just claim to
their respective shares in his property, in
the character of a compensation fund. This
being the case, the mode of proceeding in the
case of the knaves account, will, exceptions
excepted, will be in nothing different from the
mode of proceeding in the case of the insolvents
account – concerning which
see §. In both cases the most effectual
means for obtaining the information requisite
for justice will have to be employed,
as to those effectual means of compulsion, see procedure code §.
