Of Unlawful Reproach. Vituperation

2 Reproach Closely connected with Defamation. is Vituperation Signs. Vituperation Reproach: generality makes the difference Reproach Invective Vituperation is very apt to be coupled with defamation;
and very often scarce distinguishable from it. Reproach, Vituperation the
more particular it becomes, the more it approaches to Defamation.
Defamation the more general it becomes the more
it approaches to Reproach. Vituperation

3 Reproach when Vituperation is most distinct from Defamation. when aversion or contempt is indicated, without the cause Example: Reproach is at the purest, when it expresses nothing
more than that the party you reproach vituperate is the object of your
aversion or contempt, without intimating in any manner
what it is he has done to make him so: as if you call him
an abominable wretch, a worthless man, fellow a rascal or a Scoundrel:
or imprecate curses on his head.

4 Defamation when is most distinct from Reproach Vituperation when the disreputable act is imputed, but without any expression of aversion or contempt Defamation is at the purest, when it intimates nothing
more than that the party you defame has done such
or such an Act, or possesses such or such a quality, which is
in itself a disreputable act or quality, but to which You do
not at the time apply any terms or signs of disapprobation.

5 Defamation is more circumstantial. A Discourse bears more strongly in it the characters of
defamation the more particular it is with respect to persons places
