Of Unlawful Threats. Menacement

Presumption that the Injury intended is personal. 3. When a threat is denounced against a man
in such manner as to be unliquidated, the
presumption is that it was levelled against
his person: but this presumption may easily
be overcome by slight evidence to the contrary.

Presumption that a personal injury intended is either of the simple or insultive kind. 4. When the threat appears to be levelled at
his person the presumption shall be that the
injury intended was a simple personal injury,
or a personal insult: but this presumption
may be easily overcome by contrary indications.
Menacement
[(E) Will be done.] Threats may be either conditional absolute
or coercive. or else absolute.
Threats It may be called conditional coercive when
intimation is given of something which if you do,
or forbear to do, the threat shall not be executed: simple absolute, when
no such intimation is given; in so much that
it is meant you should understand that do
what you will, it will be executed at any
rate.
