The page of proceeding may be, 1. definitive: or 2. interlocutory. Whatever it be that is to be done to a person or thing
in course of law may be done either in execution of a judgement
or in the way to judgments.

How persons to be disposed of in course of Law may be made forthcoming. In order for any thing to be done to the person of a
man at a future time it is necessary he should be forthcoming
at that time. As a means of his being forthcoming
he may be required by the Law to be forthcoming
of himself, or not till after some step taken by
some other person to compel him.]

The expedients employed
to compel him to be forthcoming will either be of a physical or of a moral nature Means of making him forthcoming may be, 1. physical or 2. moral.. Expedients of a physical
nature consist in the confinement of his person: expedients of the moral kind will consist in the commanding of his attendance. The beginning of confinement
is called apprehension or arrest: A command
of attendance is called a summons. The departure out
of legal confinement before an end has been put to it by
course of Law is stiled an escape.
