C 3 Breach of Trust
Trustee, which consider'd with relation to the minor
the benefitee, may be conceived to have an influence
in the formation of his moral character. mental, that is of
his moral and intellectual character. His mental
character is the sum total or result and sum of his mental
qualities. The end and purpose of education in
to render his as far as it respects the mind is to
render the mental character of the pupil as
desirable as possible. Now his a man's mental quali character
is the sum total or result of his mental
qualities: this result will be the better or more desirable,
according as he possesses more and more
of the desirable qualities each of them in the
greatest highest degree of perfection possible, and according
as he possesses fewer and fewer of the undesirable
qualities, each of them in the lowest degree possible.
What the varieties are of which the several
desirable and undesirable qualities which can belong
to a man are susceptible has been already
represented under the title of Calumniation. If
then in any case it should happen, that the
possession of any undesirable quality on the part
of the pupil, or his possessing it in a higher degree
than he might otherwise have done, or his failing
to possess some desirable quality or his failing to
