The husband then is in certain respects the guardianmaster
in others the guardian of the wife: the wife protected
indeed as against the husband, and having a right to certain services to be performed by him, but neither
a guardianmaster to him nor a guardian. As to
the services to which they are mutually entitled

characteristic services which are peculiar to this

In virtue of these services the condition
may be considered as constituting conferring on
each party a kind of incorporeal article of
property: in this respect the in consequences

on that account the consequences of it may be of
a disadvantageous nature. Being therefore liable to be as well
a burthen as a benefit, it is exposed to the
