Bribery
[(C) Money's worth.] P It matters not of what nature the thing be
which is given so it have a value, See Tit.
Theft verbo [thing] and [value]; and Tit.[Defraudment]
verbo [money's worth]. It is enough if it be such as can
impart any kind of benefit of or advantage:
In which case it may always be estimated at such or such a sum of money, whether it can be purchased for money or no
Accordingly
a promise of marriage, for instance or the favour of
such or such a woman out of marriage
or admittance to an entertainment of eating and drinking or to a show or other diversion
or the
promise of a service of any kind, such as the
same making interest to procure a man a pardon or
the giving him letters of recommendation or
backing any suit of his, or on any occasion speaking
a good word in his behalf or in behalf of his friend or in prejudice of his enemy, are all so many
ways in which a bribe may be given or received.

In matters not in being indirect way the thing be given
nor in what way the receiving it be concealed.

[(C) Condition] It matters not whether the condition
be expressed or only implied: nor whether the
motive of the gifts be a positive aparance of the
trust's being dec executed in the particular manner
in question, or only an imperfect hope or explanation.
