Torture

more than deserves to be reprobated, punishment goes still
more. This pun circumstance is, that it can
at any time be put an end to. By this means whenever as soon as ever it appears to have
answer'd it's purpose it can be put an end
to.
The and purpose to which torture is applied
is such that whenever that purpose is attained
it may plainly be seen to be attained est: and whenever
it is seen to be attained it may immediately
be put a stop to. Of punishment + + in order to make sure of applying as much as is necessary you must often constantly run a risk of applying there must
above often be considerably more: of torture
there need never be a grain more applied than what is
necessary

1. First then there are cases in which it is
commen to apply torture itself, and in which
nobody suspects it to be wrong. These cases are occurring
continually in the domestic jurisdiction.
If a parent having seeing his a child playing with a
thing which he ought not to meddle with, and
having forbidden him in vain, pinches him [or
otherwise hurts him

is neither severe nor less than Torture. If a parent
