to so terrible a death and if by chance such a man
were to be found the Offices of Justice from the lowest
to the highest would all be setting themselves to work
to find out pretences for enabling the offender to get
clear. Where he even convicted, this business would not
be much the forwarder for it: for no King that has
even sat on the English throne since James 2.d could
bear to let such an offender suffer such a death nor
were he disposed to bear it would the people be patient
witnesses of his Patience


First rate punishment not necessary In France there is a greater variety of coin
there than in England and yet but little of it bad. In
France the punishment for coining is capital, and that
it must be confessed if a very afflictive kind, scalding to
death. In England there is a vast quantity of bad coin and
yet the punishment is capital In the Austrian dominions
there is as little bad coin in France, and yet the punishment
