it is probable proposed to concentrate the Quintessence
of the Law.

And now it may be Time to observe, that
this last Clause together with and the third, together, and not
the unmeaning Word "Felonious", nor the equally
unmeaning Expression "animus furandi, nor
that of "Lucri Causa" which has a meaning
but one no ways relevant to the Purpose of
discriminating Innocence from Guilt, all
which are brought together by the Author of
the Commentaries as synonimous, will serve
to "indemnify more Trespassers & other petty
offenders"

It is impossible that the two former Expressions
can serve for any Thing, like they come to be
translated, in the Minds of those who consider them,
into intelligible Language; of which kind, I
trust (judging as well from the Determination
as from the Nature of the Subject) will be found
to be that expressed in the above two Clauses. It
