§. Method
In framing settling the denomination of his headings divisions Mr H.
has done for the just preceding what all Jurists have done before him — he has
taken in hand those which he finds already belonging to the language,
and gives to them the best order of succession that they
appear to be susceptible of.
The course I shall proceed to take is [altogether] different
and altogether new. Without regard to Not confining myself existing and established
denominations, the divisions into which I cast the subject-matter
will be such as present themselves to my view as cal
calculated to afford the clearest conception of the contents.
In so far as any scheme of division is conducive to its
purpose it will bear the advantage of rendering the subject-matter
equally comprehensible intelligible in that language — in the
languages of all nations — to the jurists — and I hope with
little pain very moderate labour I hope to the liberally educated portion of
the non-jurists, of all natures.
