Jurisprudential power.

5. Throughout the whole
pack list the expositive
requiring words and give
the exposition of each in
a separate article

They will be those
which to amplitude of
extent add remoteness
from terms universal
use

5. The enactive matter being thus distributed
look over the whole mass and carry your eye again over the
whole mass and look out or say pick out of it all such
words as by the amplitude or indeterminateness of their extent present themselves
as requiring determination fixation, or by their remoteness from common
use exposition explanation/interpretation. Procure Allot to for each of them a separate
expositive article.

6. Distinguish all
of them by a peculiar type.
not the Italics (as being
wanted for other purposes)
but a larger Roman.

6. In the printed copies of the Code of the subject, for
giving exposition to all words or combination of words so expended allott a separate peculiar
type: not an Italic type, (that being wanted for other purposes)
but a Roman type of a size somewhat larger. By this
type as often as it occurs the reader will be reminded that
the import of the word or combination of words so distinguished
is fixt by an appropriate exposition as above.

7. Discarding as far
as possible all technical
words law words, employ
such words of general jurisprudence
as are function
to all cases
Example Satisfaction
Obligation Compensation
Right
Power
Property
Possession
Service
Benefit
Burthen

7. Let it be matter of especial case that the words,
employed in the composition of the expositive matter be either
terms of general jurisprudence or other terms which are
in universal use being no less familiar to the eyes and ears
of a non-lawyer than to those of a lawyer.

8 Familiar as they are
they will not the less need
to be expounded: words
familiar when not so clear
as could be wished
all be , that of
right not excepted, out
of the idea of obligation.

Small the number of these
acts

8. For examples of terms of general jurisprudence take the words obligation
right power property possession, wrong injury offence

But each that can be these same terms of general
jurisprudence are familiar to every ears and eye law learned
and not no-law learned, yet can not the ideas respectively belonging called up by them/extended into the mind by them
to them so clear as they might be in the and as it is
desirable they should be in the minds even of lawyers most
learned among lawyers For every one of these provide and exact
an expositive article: observing to place the article in the order in
which the others depend upon and arise spring out of each other. The idea
of obligation will be found to spring out of that of — a
— the idea of out of that of eventual punishment.
