2. These are Judicatures 1. the single seated; Judicatories
constituted, each of them, of any one of a set of functionaries,
in number altogether unlimited and continually
varying, designated by the common appellative of
Justice of the Peace. 3. 2. a set of many seated Judicatories,
composed of the same individuals, acting, in groupes
accidentally formed, and varying in like manner; but
otherwise than in the sessions, stiled General, but more
commonly Quarter sessions:4. 3. the lack mentioned, more multitudinously
seated Judicatory: in reference to which the least often
mentioned Judicatory is commonly called the Petty Sessions
of the Peace, or (leaving it out the last three words,) the
Petty Sessions.
