Supplement.
§. 2 Elucidation
Justice of Peace
Official Establishmt
System
Think of the condition of that Judge, of
whom these seven tempters (not to speak of Naboth's
vineyard coveter,) are all or any of them in possession!
Was he not typified, not to say prophecied, by the parable
of the seven unclean spirits?
Peculiar to England? Yes: Cast your
eyes over the whole civilised world, no such political
monster will you find any where.
Look to France with its Justice as administered
under Bonaparte's Code. Look at his Juge
de Paix: the sort of Judge who, by the addition of the two unmeaning words
so miscalled is so egregiously misnamed in imitation of English Judge and nonsensical
nomenclature. Simple is his conformations,
as well as that of the other Judges, his superordinates: no such
feature of monstrosity as the above.
Lead us not into temptation was the
prayer prescribed by Jesus. Lead us into temptation, and
keep us drenched with it, and wallowing in corruption —
will it not be the prayer of all "miserable
"sinners, Honourable or Right Honourable, by whom who,
with the model of a Judiciary Establishment, pure
from all these abominations — a model thus soliciting
their inspection, will shall thereafter persevere in giving their
supper to a system, defiled by all these abominations,
not to speak of so many others?
