Supplement
§.2. Elucidation
Concluding Note?

Right and Wrong
pronounced by 5 Judges

Objections calumny
& personnality answered

Calumny! calumny! Personnality! personality! how horrible Oh horridest
horror! Blush blush though seen! stand back though rapid
decree. , Mountains, all commonly crumble
And into chaos pulverise the world: For Bombadantula
received a blow and — — — — entire decent.

No need has the world of any such pulveridation.
Calumny, not any: for if the affection thus made
not a single one of them is there the talk of which is not
invariably notorious: not a single one of them to which a danger of
any one of the learned persons in question will venture to set
his name

Personality not any: Why? Because what is here predicated
of these individuals is predicated not merely of
these same individuals but of these in common with every
other individual by whom the same situation ever has been
or is likely ever to be fitted

I have not so much as looked at the causes

12
If instead of four
there were but one
that one would have
greater effect as to
probative force than
all four together

If instead of all four names there was but one
single name, that one name, whichever it was would operate
in my mind in respect of probative force it will stand to
veracity and rectitude of the declared opinion with incomparably
greater probative force than that of all four: Why? Because
his would be individual responsibility: effective responsibility,
eventual exposure to the censure of the public opinion
tribunal: in a word reputation in some at stake

Before me too a recent referenced publication by a
destitute of literary merit in which single seated judicatories
and twelve seated judicatories are brought forth in the same
breath and placed on a line with each other in respect
of to adoption a given mass of experience with twelve
times that mass not to speak of the difference as above in
respect of appropriate aptitude!

Half will worth more than the whole, is a paradise uttered sung out
by a Peal: a fifth part worth more than the whole, is
a paradise exemplified here as here not sung but indeed
but
but what is more material exemplified
and verified
