persons to be insured: such as the Minister and
Churchwardens; a certain number of reputable
house keepers, and to and the like. 2. A certain number of persons
in the nature of compurgators
might be required
to speak to the character of the
supposed insurer, and testify
their persuasion as to the justice
of his claim.
3. At any rate
the party insured should be made subject in
every stage of the transaction to examination, although the consequence
should be the calamitous and intolerable
event of the discovery of the crime.+
