If these sources of enjoyment the instruments
are commonly termed luxuries

In contradiction to the necessary means of
subsistence the instruments of these several sources of
enjoyment are commonly termed luxuries. If such
then be their tendency as hath been suggested,
luxuries paradoxical as it
may seem to vulgar superficial
apprehension
are the sources rather of virtue than of vice
