Satisfying
The Magdalen hospital for the reception
of is according to [my principles] the
principles here laid down an excellent institution.

In the opposite instance principles Upon the ascetic principle I question
whether my opinion of it would be the same.
It reclaims one set: but does it not in the same
proportion invite another? Is Green Chelsea
hospital no encouragement for the soldiery, nor
Greenwich for the Navy? Upon the principle
of asceticism nothing ought to be endured that
contributes can appear to contribute in the smallest
degree to lessen the misery of this reprobated
condition, or to infuse into it the least particle
