event of their being unknown to the parties who
may come to have an interest in the production
of the deed. 2. that in order to render it the
more difficult to set up a spurious deed attested with
a fictitious witness attestation. There are some
names so common as scarcely to answer the
purpose of discrimination. Who How does a man
know whom to look for when at the distance
of 20 or 30 years from the apparent date
of a deed is brought produced to him attested by with
the names of John Smith or Thomas Brown?
The place of nomenclature which happens to be
in use for the denomination of individuals is in more accounts than requires the attention of

of cyphers: especially for dates and sums of money: cyp
except in matters of account, in which the totals only
need to be in words at length: as also expect where the

Cyphers if not correctly written are liable some of them to be mistaken
for one for another: and among several of them are liable to be alterd
one into another in such a manner as that the alteration shall scarcely
