From this method of entitling Accessory offences from their
respective distances, from their Principal we are not however
to understand the ordinal relation which such titles
attribute to the Principal and to each other as being a
natural and permanent one in every case:
An Accessory which is said to be of the 1.st remove,
placed there as being next of all those that possibly can be
discovered or be connected with the Principal, but only of those
which are actually described and treated as being so con-
