Upon the opinions of one age
OBSTACLES LAWYERS – Univ. Education
That education is not (yet) liberal in which the past lesson
he is taught is that he must not think.
— where the knowledge of things is neglected
— where the knowledge of men is taught in such a
manner as no men can be known by
Institutes of Political knowledge
Thus much is certain that there are no such rules
— where men are examined
with praying at the time they are most
averse to it, that they may be unjust
with it all their lives.
Where men are taught & taught or no to declare themselves to believe that before they are anything,
they are corrupt, reprobate & good for nothing.
That a few words and a little water make the law
good again – that for all that they are presently
almost as bad as ever: that where to prevent their being quite
so, there's no doing without spending two or three of the best
hours in the day of every day without interruption in a large room with a Table called an
Altar at the East end of it repeating in an eternal round
the crude effusions of a barbarous age. Where all this is taught to
be of the essence of Christianity.
