PERSPICUITY. FICTION – King's Peace
In Japan, every offence is treated as a personal
affront to the Monarch: this appears very
offensive when told us of Japan the laws of a strange country: but we little
consider how that idea dominates in our own. that our own system teems with that the same untrustworthy
language.
OBSTACLES FICTION.
Fictions, which in their origin are but so many manifestations
either of the wayward ignorance of a barbarian Magistracy
which knew not how to utter truth
under it's own name; or of the necessity of the
times which would not suffer them.
Our Magistrates have no such ignorance, our
lives have no such necessity.
