Of Accessory Offences
Offences insulated and concatenated. Offences in a train

An act which there if it stands as it were alone, not
having any other acts which can be seen to be connected with it
being attended by any other acts on the part of
the same person which can be seen to be
thus connected with it, may be termed an insulated
act; and accordingly if it be an offence an insulated
offence: an act if in company with any such
other acts, an offence act standing in concatenation, or a
concatenated act offence. And the whole number of such offences acts
may be stiled without distinction, concatenated offences, or offences in a train.
Among concatenated offences, one may be the principal, the rest accessory or subordinate

to such other offences be stiled the principal: and
such other offences may with reference to the past forgets
that one be stiled accessory or subordinate.
What act is commonly regarded as the principal.
Qu. this par. The principal act is most commonly that with
which stands nearest in point of time to the production
of the obnoxious consequences. But this is different
in different offences; and according as there are one person only
or more persons that are concerned, or more.
