2. There will always be a possibility, although there should be no
proof of it, that the subsequent owner may have been in some
sort of intelligence with the Wrong-doer.

3. At any rate it will tend to put purchasers upon the
watch to discover if things offered them to sale be dishonestly obtained,
and thereby give to certain persons an interest which
they would not otherwise have, in using their endeavours to
detect delinquents.
§.VII. How the burthen of Compensation is
to fall among Co-Offenders.
§ect. VII
The offender first convicted shall pay the whole.</lb>
1.
Where several persons are concerned in an offence, any of
them who is convicted before the rest, may be made to pay the whole
of the compensation money due to the parties injured.
But he shall have his remedy successively against the others.

But as fast as any other Co-offender is convicted, such
Co-offender shall be made to contribute his proportion, which shall
be paid into court for the re-imbursement of the first Co-offender: upon
a third Co-offender's being convicted he shall in like manner contribute
to the reimbursement of the two firsts;and so on.
