true proprietor, with relation to each proprietary subject of property,
amongst all these titles.
Ch. Proprietor – how determinable amongst
all these titles.
So much with for regard the several species of
title or efficient causes of right – some having
reference to one sort of proprietary subject, some others
to another: but many of them equally applicable
to one and the same subject. – From Amongst all these
species of title, thirteen in number, how to find
out the real proprietor in each instance? – For
this and no other is the object in all questions discussions
on the subject of property, and this and no other is can be the use of the
pains taken in limiting and explaining the
several articles of which this long catalogue is composed.
They are so many marks to discover the
real proprietor by, with reference to each article of
property: this is the use of them and the only use.
But what if of this numerous catalogue of marks
one should be found imprinted on one proper person
another on another, and so on to any number?

state of things present! What a labyrinth! and
